SRINAGAR: An officer and four jawans were injured in an ongoing encounter between security forces and militants in the Juthana area of Kathua on Thursday.
Quoting sources, local news agency JKNS reported that security forces launched a cordon and search operation in the area following specific intelligence inputs about the presence of militants.
As the forces closed in on the suspected location, they came under heavy fire, leading to a fierce gunfight.
During the exchange, SDPO Border DySP Dheeraj Katoch and three jawans sustained injuries. They were shifted to a medical facility for treatment, sources said.
Intermittent firing is still ongoing, and additional reinforcements have been rushed to the spot. (JKNS)
