Addressing a press conference at party headquarters at Nawai Subuh complex Sagar said: “On Monday, there was a planned mobilization of people and even the Chief Judicial Magistrate declined to entertain the challan in the case.”

“Chief Minister had assured on the floor of the house that the culprits won’t be spared. But the yesterday’s incident gave the birth to many apprehensions. We demand the shifting of Asifa case from Kathua court to any other court in the state for fair trial where there will be no hurdles,” Sagar told reporters.

He said two cabinet ministers, a local MLA and a Minister of State in the Prime Minister’s office have been vocally supporting the accused in the case.

“A shutdown call has been given in support of the accused and these people are trying to divide the state into regional and religious lines,” he said.
