Clashes erupted between protesting students and government forces on Thursday in Chadoora area of central Kashmir’s Budgam district against the rape and murder of Kathua minor.

According to reports students from multiple institutions assembled at main town Chadoora shouting ant- governmental demanded justice for Kathua victim.

Sources said that soon after the protests clashes were also reported from the area, however government forces retaliated with teargas shelling to disperse the stone pelting students.

During the incident, two protesting students have sustained injuries; the protests were going was when this report was filed.

The protests were also reported from Safakadal area of Srinagar, the students had staged a protest march in solidarity with Kathua victim and demand of capital punishment for the accused.

Earlier, 14, students’ sustained injuries in Shopian district after students clashed with government forces.
