SRINAGAR: The Kashmir Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) has voiced its satisfaction with the Indian Institute of Carpet Technology (IICT) Srinagar lab’s achievement of becoming the First Accredited Textile Testing Laboratory in Jammu & Kashmir.

The Accreditation, bestowed by the Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratory (NABL), marks a significant milestone in the region.

“This accreditation is a historic milestone, bringing due credibility and recognition to the testing facility at IICT in alignment with National and International Quality Standards,” stated the KCCI spokesperson. The Chamber has maintained a close association with IICT, Srinagar, and has played a pivotal role in its development and expansion.

Expressing appreciation on this momentous occasion, the KCCI acknowledged the efforts of Director Zubair Ahmad, the Government of India, the Jammu & Kashmir Government, and officials of the institute. The newly acquired accredited status of IICT is anticipated to significantly benefit the manufacturers and exporters of Kashmir Handmade products.

Faiz Ahmad Bakshi, Secretary General of KCCI, highlighted the positive impact of this achievement, stating, “It is hoped that the IICT will grow from strength to strength, and the KCCI is committed to actively supporting its continued success.” This accreditation not only elevates the stature of the institute but also enhances the prospects for the Kashmir region in the textile and handmade products industry.
