During the meeting, the LG congratulated the newly elected members and assured the delegation of his full support in addressing challenges faced by trade, commerce, and industry in Kashmir. Key issues discussed included the suspension of cargo services by Air India to Gulf countries from Srinagar Airport, which exporters said is hampering delivery commitments and causing substantial financial losses.

The KCCI delegation expressed appreciation for the LG’s support of the handicrafts sector, noting that awards and recognition for artisans and weavers are helping boost local industry morale.

The meeting also focused on initiatives to promote tourism in the Valley. Proposed plans include a roadshow in Mumbai and meetings with Ambassadors in Delhi, aimed at enhancing Kashmir’s visibility as a tourist destination and addressing travel advisories issued by certain countries.

The discussion underscored the need for coordinated efforts between the government and industry stakeholders to strengthen trade, tourism, and local enterprise in Jammu Kashmir.
