Kashmir Centre for Social and Development Studies (KCSDS) has strongly condemned the Sumbal killings, in which two unarmed boys were killed allegedly by armed forces on Sunday.

As per a statement the civil society group has said, “The incident once again justifies beyond doubt the genuine demand of public for demilitarization along with the draconian laws which provide immunity to the forces against the prosecution and punitive action. The incident once again subscribes to the general perception that the Army is actually here for domestic repression, executions, arbitrary killings and through all these acts to terrorize people into submission.”

KCSDS has demanded for immediate withdrawal of all armed forces from the entire civilian space so that people’s fear and insecurity can end at the hands of the “security forces.”

“The eyes of the civil society are filled with tears of blood over the gruesome and arbitrary killing of Irfan and Tariq. Our hearts goes out to the bereaved families that they are not alone in this hour of grief and bereavement,” KCSDS statement reads.
