Kashmir Center for Social and Development Studies (KCSDS) has strongly condemned the ‘insensitivity’ of the government to the situation in Chenab valley which has arisen in the aftermath of the massive earthquake.
“Whereas the entire administration rushed to Leh when a similar natural calamity struck it in 2010, the same promptness and concern has not been shown to the people of Doda-Kishtwar who have been rendered homeless overnight as a result of colossal damage to their houses and other buildings,” a KCSDS spokesperson said.
He strongly endorse the demand of the Chenab valeyites for a Leh- type aid and assistance in this hour of calamity. Some immediate steps need to be taken to provide them shelter as also make make-shift arrangements for the school going children as most of the schools in the area have collapsed as per newspaper reports.
The KCSDS assured the affected population that all the people in valley are with them in this hour of grief and reassure them of our full moral and emotional support.
The civil society has decided to send a team to the Chenab valley to show solidarity and support with the affected brethren.
