“Keep Calm, I will be back,” Omar had tweeted in 2014 when the BJP-PDP coalition came to power, while the National Conference secured just 15 seats.

Ten years later, after securing a decisive majority with alliance partner INC, Omar fulfilled his promise, retweeting his old message and marking his return to the political forefront.

Twitterati were quick to react to the tweet, welcoming the Chief Minister-designate.

“And you are back,” wrote one user.

Another intresting response was: “Plz sir apne wade pyy kayem rehna . Qki sab yaad rakha jaye gaa plzzz apne logo ko naummeed na karna. Agle bar tope sar pyy hone chahiye (Please sir stay on your promise. Because everything will be remembered. Please do not let your people down. Next time your cap should be on your head)”.
