Kashmir Editors Guild (KEG) Friday congratulated Tahir Mohiuddin, Chief Editor Daily Chattan for being presented the yearly state award for outstanding media person.

Pertinently, Tahir Mohiuddin, who is also Vice President of the KEG was conferred with the award for his contribution in the field of Media.

KEG in an extraordinary meeting held here said that the award presented to the senior scribe is in recognition of the services he has rendered in the field of media over the past three decades.

The meeting presided by its President Fayaz Ahmad Kaloo also discussed various issues confronting the media fraternity.

“The KEG members felt the need that the issues confronting the media fraternity in Kashmir need to be taken up with the concerned quarters without any delay,” a statement issued after the meeting said.

The members identified the issues during the meeting and it was unanimously decided that these issues will be tackled as per the priority they necessitate, the statement added.

The meeting also took note of various developments that are taking place vis-à-vis media in the state.

“Members asked the office bearers to involve all the stake-holders in tackling the critical issues involving different spheres of activities of media organizations,” the statement added.

They KEG President reiterated that while for decades media has upheld the highest degree of objectivity in reporting Kashmir, the media itself has remained a story of neglect.
