Awami Ittihaad Party (AIP) President and MLA Langate, Er Rashid Friday, asked the government to identify the bodies of those killed in the Keran sector along LoC.

He had a heated exchange of arguments with BJP and Panthers MLAs in the legislative assembly and condemned them for abusing Pakistan and making situation in Kishtwar polarized.

Rashid asked the government the details of alleged encounter that started on September 24 between army and the militants in Keran sector of District Kupwara.

Rashid said, “The day when Prime Ministers of India and Pakistan were supposed to meet in New York, a fidayeen attack was reported in Samba and on the same day army claimed that it killed 12 militants in the gun fight near LoC in Karen. The incident was highlighted by print and electronic media besides various political parties. However even after 13 days have passed, the whereabouts of bodies of the slain militants have not been disclosed. People want to know about the identity and other related information about the deceased militants.”

“Army and civil administration has a moral and legal or responsibility to tell that to whom the bodies of the deceased militants were handed over and where they have been buried,” Rashid added.

Rashid reiterated his demand of disbanding VDCs and expressed deep anger over the “failure of the government” to protect the life and property of Muslims of Paddar area of Kishtwar.

Rashid also made a strong demand to include Paddar area in the jurisdiction of Justice Gandhi Commission formed to probe the recent riots in Kishtwar.

“Leaving out Paddar from the Jurisdiction of the commission speaks about the ill designs and duplicity of the government,” Rashid said.
