SRINAGAR: Several key posts including the post of Chief Medical Officer (CMO) are lying vacant in South Kashmir’s Anantnag district. The employees working in the different hospitals stated that the absence of the top officials has affected the work badly.
The key positions including the CMO Anantnag, Block Medical Officers for Bijbehara and Achabal as well as the position of DTO are lying vacant for a long time now.
The district has no permanent CMO since March 2022 as the deputy CMO at present is performing the duties of CMO, which simultaneously has affected the work badly.
Besides, the posts of BMO Bijbehara and Achabal have been lying vacant for the past eight months now. “These key positions should have been filled on priority, but unfortunately the authorities are delaying it for unknown reasons,” sources said.
They added that the health department has been working hard to ensure better healthcare facilities for the people, but such issues are affecting the work.
“Such issues need to be resolved in the shortest possible time so that the people could heave a sigh of relief, and no work would remain pending for a long time,” they said.
Meanwhile, Director Health Services, Kashmir, Dr Jahangir Bakhshi said that the posts couldn’t be filled due to the Model Code Conduct (MCC). However, he said that all the key posts will be filled within a few days. (KNO)
