Srinagar:  As part of the ‘Khelo India’ Programme for development of sports and engagement of youth, 4800 players are going to play in the Junior Cricket Championship to be organized in the Valley.

The under-17 junior cricket Championship is organized jointly by Delhi Public School Srinagar and J&K State Sports council and is a first of its kind tournament of its level, a communique informed.

320 teams are going to play 3019 matches in the tournament and the participants are going to be awarded with scholarships and cash prizes.

Pertinently, earlier Rs 200 Cr package was announced by the government of India for the promotion of the games in the state to engage youth in J&K.
