A civilian was killed in clashes with the government forces in Ganowpora area of south Kashmir’s Shopian district on Saturday.

An official said that Bilal Ahmad Khan, a resident of Pujoo village of  Kral Chuk suffered a bullet injury in his chesafter forces used live ammunition and pellets to disperse protesters who had gathered at Ganowpora village for funeral prayers of one slain militant.

He was shifted to district hospital Shopian where doctors declared him dead on arrival.

Earlier, five militants were killed in Kiloora Shopian during an encounter. While a number of people have sustained injuries near the gunfight sight during clashes with government forces.
