Several protesters were injured during clashes with the government forces in Yannar village of Pahalgam in south Kashmir’s Islamabad district on Saturday.

Sources said that clashes broke out in Yannar village after the news of the death of a local militant Arif Ahmad Mir reached there.

They said that youth pelted the forces with stones. The forces retaliated by firing tear gas and pellets, resulting in injuries to at least twelve persons.

Hospital sources said that ten injured are being treated at Sallar hospital while the rest were shifted to Seer and district hospital Islamabad.

Earlier, five militants and a civilian were killed in Kiloora Shopian during an encounter. While a number of people have sustained injuries near the gunfight sight during clashes with government forces.

Clashes were going on when last reports came in.
