Police claims to have solved the militancy case of November 1, 2011 which was registered under FIR No 369/11 U/S 307 RPC, 3/5 Explosive substance Act of Police Station Kupwara.

The case which pertains to grenade attack on a bunker in general Bus Stand Kupwara was Tuesday solved by arresting the kingpin, Javid Ahmad Shah, resident of Shortmuqam Lolab, who police says is associate of Hizbul Mujahideen.

“During sustained questioning the subject confessed his involvement in the instant case besides led to the involvement of two more assailants namely Mohammad Abdullah Bhat son of Mohammad Sabir Bhat resident of Maidanpora Lolab OGW of banned outfit JeM  who was involved in case FIR No. 07/12 under section 302 RPC of police station Lalpora, Nawaz Ahmad Shah son of Maqsood Ahmad Shah resident of Shortmuqam an OGW of banned outfit HM  responsible for the incident, who were also arrested in the instant case,” read the statement issued by police.

“Three pedestrians namely Asif Ahmad Bhat son of Mohammad Iqbal resident of Thindipora, Bashir Ahmad Mir son of Abdul Ahad Mir resident of Drugmulla and Tasleema Bano daughter of Abdul Rehman Lone resident of Gugloosa had sustained splinter injuries due to the blast,” the statement added.
