The death toll in a bus accident in Kishtwar Jammu has risen to 17 while many others were seriously injured after a bus rolled down into a gorge at Thakrai under the jurisdiction of police station Kishtwar.
According to officials, the lifeless bodies of 17 passengers have been fished out of the water while the hunt for others is still on. The incident that took place at around 9:10 am.
Meanwhile, Governor Satya Pal Malik has expressed grief over the loss of lives in a tragic road accident and announced Rs 5 lakh ex-gratia relief for the next of the kin of the deceased and Rs. 50,000 to each of those injured in this accident.
In his message Governor has prayed for eternal peace to the departed souls and strength to the bereaved families. He has wished a speedy recovery to those injured in this accident.
He has directed for providing free medical treatment to the injured in government hospitals.
