Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (JKBOSE) on Thursday declared 61.44% students as ‘qualified’ in the annual class 12 examinations.

An official of the JKBOSE said that as many as 55163 students appeared in the examinations while 33893 were declared as qualified.

The pass percentage of girls stands at 64.31 while that of boys is 58.92. 4040 students have to reappear in the exams.

Muhtashim Rafiqi with 494 (98.8%), followed by Faheem Rashid with 491 (98.2%) students of Burn Hall School in Srinagar and Sabiya Syeed with 490 (98%) of SRM Welkin School, Sopore have secured first three positions in Science stream.

Interestingly, the top three positions in the Home Science stream have been bagged by government-run schools. Iqra Rashid of Govt Girls HSS Kothi Bagh with 480 marks (96%) stood first while second and third toppers Aazima Noorie with 465 marks (93%) and Fiza Jan with 443 (88.6%) secured the second and third positions respectively and were students of Govt Girls HSS, Islamabad.

In the faculty of Arts Durdanah Masoodi of Govt Girls HSS Baramulla topped with 487 marks (97.4%) followed by Munazah Shafi of Govt Girls HSS, Kothi Bagh and Madeeha Khan of Green Valley Educational Institute Srinagar with 484 (96.8%) and 483(96.6%) respectively.

The first position in the faculty of Commerce is shared by 6 girls including Afreen Nazir of Islamia HSS, Srinagar, Farisa and Mehreen Hilal of Green Valley Educational Institute, Sehrish Nafiz, Tabish Noor and Zaira Bashir of Govt. Girls HSS, Nawa Kadal Srinagar, all scoring 485 marks (97%). The second position was bagged by Arafat Baktoo of Kashmir Harvard Educational Institute and Seeba Malik of Green Valley Educational Institute with 483 marks (96.6%).

While the third position was shared by three girls, including Nisha Jan of Govt Girls HSS Islamabad, Shifa Hanief of Govt Girls HSS, Amira Kadal and Tabish Qadir of Govt Girls HSS Budgam each bearing 479 marks (95.8%).
