SRINAGAR: Additional Director General of Police Kashmir, Vijay Kumar, stated on Friday that the operation will persist until all militants have been neutralised.


Quoting ADGP Kashmir, The Kashmir Police Zone posted on X, “Retired Police/Army officers should avoid the ‘Ambush Hypothesis.’ It is a specific input-based operation. The operation is in progress, and all 2-3 trapped terrorists will be neutralized.”

Meanwhile, an army personnel who was critically wounded succumbed to his injuries today at a hospital.

As this report was being filed, heavy firing and mortar shelling were continuing late into the evening.

An official, while speaking to media said that the forces fired grenades, rocket propelled grenades, shells and bullets towards the suspected spots suggested by the drones. The official that all new generation weapons and devices are being used to locate hiding militants.

The official said that civilians living close to the area have been already evacuated to safer places and drones including herons have been pressed into action to find and neutralise the hiding militants.

“There is no confirmation whether any terrorist has been killed so far given the tough terrain and forest area,” the official said. “Given dark, high beam lights have been installed and all the layers of cordon have been tightened to ensure terrorists don’t flee.”

On Wednesday, a fierce gunfight erupted between militants and security forces in Gadole area. In the initial exchange of fire, three army personnel, including a colonel, major, and DySP of Police, were critically injured.

The colonel, a major, and a DySP later succumbed to their injuries.

On Thursday, contact was again established with hiding militants, and there was some exchange of fire; however, no militants have been killed so far.
