The Kashmir Press Club Coordination Committee Tuesday held a condolence meeting at the KPC premises in memory of the slain ‘Rising Kashmir’ Editor, Shujaat Bukhari who was brutally murdered Thursday evening by unidentified gunmen.

During the meeting, the KPCC members offered fateha (prayers) for the departed soul and recalled Shujaat’s contribution as a journalist, colleague, friend and a human being.

The KPCC members said that the entire journalistic fraternity of Kashmir is yet to come out of the shock of Shujaat’s killing and does not know how the void created by the brutal murder will be filled.

Some of the KPCC members who had known Shujaat for over two decades also recalled a few incidents and memories that they said they will cherish forever.

“I had known Shujaat since he joined Journalism. I still cannot believe he is no more. More than a colleague Shujaat was like a younger brother to me,” said KPCC member Mehraj-ud-din.

Denouncing the killing KPCC asked the police to expedite the investigations into the murder which has shocked the entire fraternity.
