SRINAGAR: The Kashmir Power Distribution Corporation Limited (KPDCL) has announced several power shutdowns across the region to facilitate essential maintenance, upgradation, and stabilisation works. These planned outages will affect multiple areas on specific dates, causing temporary disruptions in the electricity supply.
On January 29, 2025, several areas, including Sopore Town, Amargarh, Krankshivan Colony, and nearby localities, will experience power outages from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM due to the temporary shifting and permanent raising of the Sopore Tap Line near Lalad Amargarh. Similarly, Naidkhai, Markundal, Sumbal, Gundboon, and their adjoining areas will face disruptions from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM as the Nehalpora-Markundal Line undergoes augmentation. To evacuate power from the GIS Tengpora Grid Station, power supply to KP Bagh, Jawahar Nagar, Rajbagh, and Danderkha will remain affected from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM.
Further, residents of Rakhiarth and Hamdania Colony will face outages from 11:00 AM to 4:30 PM due to the installation of poles and laying of new conductors on the Bemina-KP Bagh Line. In addition, power disruptions will occur in Sopore Town, Delina, Amargarh, and Krankshivan Colony from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM as part of stringing work on the Delina Line. Work on the Kalantra Tap Line will affect Wagoora, Kreeri, Mangam, and nearby areas from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM, while stabilisation works on the Kongamdara Line will disrupt supply to Kunzar and Dhobiwan during the same hours.
On January 30, 2025, areas including Ajas and Bazipora will face outages from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM due to stabilisation work on the Nadhihal Tap Line. On the same day, Safapora and nearby areas will also experience disruptions due to similar work on the Badampora Safapora Tap Line.
Outages will continue on February 1, 2025 as augmentation and HT conductoring works under the Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS) affect areas like Naidkhai, Markundal, and Lar from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM. Additionally, Rakhiarth and Hamdania Colony will face power cuts once again for pole installation and conductor laying. On February 2, 2025, power supply to Batmaloo, Court Complex, Baramulla Town, and nearby localities will be affected from 11:00 AM to 4:30 PM for pole replacement and conductor upgrades.
Residents of Tulmulla, Kheerbhawani, and adjoining areas should also prepare for outages on February 6, 2025 as HT conductoring works on the Badampora Lar Tulmulla Line are carried out.
