As per the reports, one civilian, Asif Tantray, was killed and two army men were injured in an ongoing encounter between army and suspected militants in Kulgam district of south Kashmir on Monday.
The encounter broke out on Sunday night after a joint team of police and army acting on a tip-off about the presence of militants in Redwani Bala village of the district launched a search operation.
The reports said as the govt forces were conducting the search operation, the holed up militants opened fire on them. “The forces retaliated, triggering an encounter,” reports said.
Two militants have reportedly taken cover inside a residential house.
Earlier stone-pelting was reported at the ongoing encounter site with villagers trying to break the cordon.
