SRINAGAR: A day after two militants were killed in Arreh village of Kulgam district during a gunfight with forces personnel, they are said to be Coronavirus positive.
According to the police statement, the samples of the slain militants were taken while carrying out medico-legal formalities.

The samples, police said were sent for the Covid-19 test. “Today, the test reports were received from CD Hospital Srinagar and both the killed terrorists were confirmed as Coronavirus positive,” read the statement.

It was further stated that “since the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic and to ensure the safety of people from the inherent risk of contracting the infection, the burial of the killed terrorists is carried out at designated places,” adding “Medico-legal formalities are strictly followed in respect of such killed terrorists which includes post-mortem, DNA and Covid-19 tests.”

Said to be affiliated with Hizb-ul-Mujahideen outfit, the dead bodies, police said “shall be carried through protective care ambulance and buried strictly as per Covid-19 protocol at Baramulla.”
