A complete shutdown is being observed in most parts of the Islamabad and Kulgam district in southern part of Kashmir including the main town to mourn the killings of five militants and a civilian in Chowgam area of Kulgam.

Local sources said that all shops, business establishments, and private sectors are closed while public transport is off the roads.

Meanwhile, train service remained suspended on the second consecutive day for “security reasons” in south Kashmir, however, the service on Srinagar-Baramulla track will chug in as per schedule,  an official from the department said.

Five militants and a civilian were killed during an encounter between the government forces and militants in Chowgam Qazigund area of south Kashmir’s Kulgam district. Many youth also sustained injuries during the clashes near the gunfight site.
