According to officials, as per Daily Excelsior, the encounter resumed in the morning after a brief overnight lull in firing in the Guddar forest area. The operation was launched following specific intelligence from Jammu and Kashmir Police about the presence of militants in the region.

When troops challenged suspicious movement during the search, they came under heavy fire, triggering a prolonged exchange. Subedar Perbhat Gaur and Lance Naik Narender Sindhu sustained critical injuries and later succumbed, while an Army major remains stable after treatment.

The Army’s Chinar Corps paid tribute to the fallen soldiers in a statement, describing their sacrifice as an inspiration. “Their courage and dedication will forever inspire us,” the Corps said in a post on X.

Initial reports suggest that among the neutralised militants, one was a local resident and the other a foreign fighter operating under the code name ‘Rehman Bhai’.

Director General of Police Nalin Prabhat visited the site and commended the coordinated efforts of the Army, CRPF and police in the operation.

The encounter remains ongoing, with security forces maintaining a tight cordon around the area.
