Srinagar:  The residents of Sempora-Derapora area of south Kashmir’s Kulgam district staged a protest against dilapidated condition of roads and lack of proper drinking water supply in the area.

The residents said that they do not have proper water supply and they have to consume dirty water. “From last several years we are demanding tap connections but no one is listening,” said an elderly resident of the area.

Gardner’s who are fully dependent on water said that our fruits cannot grow without water and shortage of water is taking toll on our harvest.

Womenfolk of the area have to walk several kilometers to get water from dirty river.

Roads of this area are also depilated. “From Munad to Kulgam, the condition of roads is worst,” said elderly resident. Due to bad roads it takes lot of time for fruit laden trucks to reach their destinations.

Resident further said that due to consumption of dirty water, there are high chances that some epidemics might engulf the village.

“We are continuously requesting the concerned authorities but they are not paying due attention towards this problem,” residents said.

Residents demand that their problem should be solved on urgent basis.
