Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of the inaugural function of a multi-purpose indoor stadium in North Kashmir’s Kupwara, Sinha mentioned that Kupwara was previously known for its militancy. However, over the past decade, the people of the district have come to understand the nefarious intentions of terrorists and the negative impact of this ill-fated agenda. “Today, Kupwara is on a path of peace and development. The locals are contributing immensely to nation-building, which clearly demonstrates that J&K is changing after the abrogation of Article 370,” Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha stated.

He further added that a multi-purpose indoor stadium worth four crore rupees was inaugurated in the district to provide a robust platform for local youth and engage them in sports activities. “I hope this endeavor will play a positive role in showcasing the talent and skills of our youth to the world,” said the Lieutenant Governor.

Responding to a query, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha highlighted that Kupwara has become an attractive destination for tourists, and the government is actively working to enhance the tourism potential in the district. “In the past, Kupwara was neglected by regional political groups, but today it has found a place on the tourism map. There is a considerable flow of tourists in the district, and the administration is keen on further augmenting the facilities,” he added.

LG Sinha was accompanied by Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, VK Bidhuri; ADGP Kashmir Zone, Vijay Kumar; Secretary Youth Services and Sports J&K, Sarmad Hafeez, and others.
