A complete shutdown is being observed in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Friday against the killing of two local militants.

All the shops, business establishments’, government and private offices remained closed in Kupwara while traffic is off the roads.

The shutdown was observed in Trehgam, Kupwara, Lolab and other adjoining areas of the district, and authorities have imposed curfew-like restrictions in Kupwara town for precautionary measure. All the educational institutions in the district also remained closed for a day.

Earlier, two militants were killed during an encounter with government forces on August 2, 2018, in Shumriyal Lolab area of Kupwara.

While a fresh encounter broke out on today morning and reportedly one militant has been killed and operation is still on at Drusoo village of Sopore in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.
