SRINAGAR: The junior X-Ray technicians working in the Health Department in District Kupwara since 2016 are without salaries for the last several months even as the district administration is sitting like a mute spectator.

The aggrieved technicians said they have been appointed in April 2016 by Service Selection Board and subsequently given a posting by the Directorate of  Health Services Kashmir but for the last four months, they have not been paid salaries.  “We are doing our job with diligence despite facing extreme difficulties in feeding our families since the last four months,” a group of X-Ray technicians said.

They said the basic issue is that in 2019 they were adjusted into the Government Degree College Baramulla and its associated hospitals for drawl of salaries only, though their seniority, linen and other promotional prospects shall remain in the parent districts.

Nevertheless, they had to work in their parent districts as per the 2019 order of DHSK.

The principal GMC Baramulla recently has withheld their salaries since April 2021 and asked them to join DH Baramulla. However, the technicians alleged,  “Chief Medical Officer  Kupwara is showing his incompetence and sluggishness over the issue as to whether to relieve them to DH Baramulla or have it sorted out at Directorate level”.

They appealed to the higher authorities including DHSK, Principal GMC Baramulla, CMO Kupwara and Deputy Commissioner Kupwara to address their issues on priority as also intervention by Lt Governor.

Principal Government Medical College Baramulla Dr (Prof) Ruby Reshi told Kashmir Life that the salaries of these technicians will not be released unless they join the posts at GMC Baramulla and or its associated hospitals.

She said I am facing a dearth of staff and I need them here.
