A labourer died after he was hit by a sliding stone in a stone quarry in Athwajan, a police statement said on Tuesday.
36 years old Mohammad Ishaq Naik son of Abdul Rashid resident of Khadhi Banihal came under a sliding stone at a quarry at Athwajan, Pantha Chowk and was critically injured. The injured was shifted to SMHS Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
Meanwhile, Awantipora Police recovered a male body in Chursoo, Awantipora area this morning. Police has started investigation to ascertain the cause of the death.
Some locals informed the police that a body of a person is lying at Chursoo, Awantipora area. Police recovered the body who was later identified as Farooz Reshi son of Mohammad Shafi resident of Gadpora, Tral. The deceased was 18 years of age and was reportedly mentally unsound.
Awantipora Police has started investigation under section 174 CrPC to ascertain the cause of death.
