SRINAGAR: The Union Territory administration of Ladakh has imposed a freeze on the boundaries of all administrative units in anticipation of the Census-2027 exercise.
As per a notification issued by the Planning, Development and Monitoring Department, the limits of districts, tehsils, municipalities, towns, revenue villages and other administrative units across Ladakh will remain unchanged until the census process is completed.
The order has been issued in exercise of the powers granted under Clause (iv) of Rule 8 of the Census Rules, 1990, the notification said.
It added that the boundary freeze will be treated as effective from January 1, 2026.
