SRINAGAR: The Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh has appointed the Director General of Police (DGP) of the Union Territory as the Director of Civil Defence for the region.
“In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (2) of Section 4 read with Clause (f) of Section 2 of the Civil Defence Act, 1968 (27 of 1968), the Lieutenant Governor of the Union Territory of Ladakh hereby appoints the Director General of Police, Union Territory of Ladakh, as Director of Civil Defence, Union Territory of Ladakh,” reads an order.
The Director of Civil Defence will exercise powers and perform duties as prescribed under the Civil Defence Act, 1968, and the rules and regulations made thereunder to ensure effective implementation and management of Civil Defence measures in the Union Territory, the notification states.
