SRINAGAR: The Union Territory of Ladakh continued to witness a surge in the coronavirus cases on the third consecutive day on Sunday as 112 persons tested positive in Leh and Kargil districts in the last 24 hours.

A total of 104 persons were tested positive in Kargil, while Leh reported eight virus cases. With this, the number of active cases has risen to 468 — 404 in Kargil and 64 in Leh.

At least 12 patients who had recovered were discharged from Leh hospital on Sunday.

According to health department officials, nine patients from Leh district are in hospital, while the number of Kargil patients in hospital is 81. “The number of Covid-19 patients in home isolation is 55 in Leh and 215 in Kargil,” said a health department official. On Saturday, Ladakh Union Territory reported the highest single-day spike of 198 coronavirus cases and all of them were from Kargil district.
