SRINAGAR: Ladakh has secured its 4th Geographical Indication (GI) tag, this time for ‘Ladakh Seabuckthorn.’ The Geographical Indication Registry, operating under the Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Government of India, has officially granted the GI tag to the Department of Industries & Commerce, Ladakh, designating it as the Registered Proprietor in Class 31.

‘Ladakh Seabuckthorn’ now joins the esteemed company of Ladakh Pashmina, Ladakh Apricot (Raktsey Karpo), and Ladakhi Wood Carving, making it the 4th product from the Union Territory to receive this coveted recognition. Ladakh has demonstrated a swift ability to secure GI tags for its unique products.

‘Ladakh Seabuckthorn’ is now part of the exclusive list of GI-tagged products, reinforcing Ladakh’s reputation for delivering exceptional goods with distinctive geographical characteristics. (KNO)
