While wishing the people of Ladakh on the Losar festival, Minister of State for Cooperatives and Ladakh Affairs Chering Dorjey Friday said that government will soon setup hostel facilities for students of Ladakh region in Jammu.

“Government is going to construct a tribal hostel here at Jammu and students of Ladakh will be accommodated in the hostel. In the meantime government will try to setup a separate hostel for Ladakh boys studying in Jammu,” he said.

He was speaking during the interaction with students of Ladakh at the celebration event of Losar organized by the All Ladakh Student Association Jammu (ALSAJ).

Extending warm greetings to the people of Ladakh and Kargil especially the Buddhist community on the occasion of Losar, Dorjey hoped that the festival will prove harbinger of peace, progress and prosperity for the state and its people. He highlighted the centuries old rich traditions of communal harmony, brotherhood and co-existence of different faiths and cultures symbolizing high values of humanity.

Reacting to the lack of accommodation problems faced by Ladakh students in Jammu, Dorjey said that government has already setup a girl’s hostel which is running smoothly, and for boys hostel will be constructed soon.”

He also ensured them that the genuine issues raised by the students will be addressed. The Minister also said that constitution of sports council at Leh has given flip to the sports activities in the region.
