SRINAGAR: The Ladakh Traffic Police has switched from its earlier sky-blue uniform to white following approval from Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena, with the change aimed at improving the force’s visibility and giving personnel a more distinctive and professional appearance.
The new uniform is intended to provide traffic personnel with a neat and consistent look while they perform their duties on roads across the Union Territory.
According to officials, the change was prompted in part by observations that the previous uniform closely resembled those worn by several local schools, making traffic personnel less distinguishable in crowded areas.
White uniforms are also worn by Traffic Police personnel in Delhi and several other states, and the change in Ladakh follows the practice adopted in other parts of the country.
Saxena said the new uniform would provide the Traffic Police with a fresh and professional identity and enhance their appearance while on duty.
He also expressed hope that the change would strengthen a sense of discipline and pride among personnel as they regulate traffic and assist road users.
