Two persons consumed poison in Islamabad and Srinagar. While one of them is being treated another died, police said Tuesday evening.

A lady (name withheld) resident of Wangam Kokernag died after she consumed some poisonous substance at her home. After completion of all legal formalities Police handed over the body of the deceased lady to her relatives for last rites.

Meanwhile, an 18 years old girl (name withheld) resident of Saidpora Nowhatta in District Srinagar consumed some poisonous substance at her home. She was shifted to SMHS Hospital for treatment.

Police said that four peddlers were held with prescriptions drugs in Bandipora.

On a tip off, a police party of Police Station Sumbal during Naka checking at Guzar Mohallah Shilwath Bandipora intercepted a Scorpio vehicle bearing registration number JK01U/9214. On its checking police recovered 49 bottles of codeine phosphate. Four peddlers who were carrying these drugs were taken into custody. The arrested peddlers have been identified as Ali Mohammad Sofi Son-in-Law of Ghulam Mohammad Sofi, Islam Mallah son of Jameel, Haroon son of Abbass residents of Mundi Gaddi Haryana at present Delhi and driver of the vehicle Mohammad Ramzan son of Ghulam Mohammad resident of Nesbal Sumbal.

Meanwhile, two persons died in road mishaps.

In Handwara, an Alto car bearing registration number JK09/4222 hit and injured a pedestrian identified as Suhail Ahmed Bhat son of Mohammad Aslam resident of Batkote at Vodhpora. The injured has been shifted to the Hospital for treatment.

In Awantipora, a Truck bearing registration number JK13A/2787 hit a pedestrian Abdul Hamid Hajam son of Ghulam Rasool Hajam resident of Awanpora Chursoo at Chursoo resulting in his on spot death.

In Baramulla, an Auto Rickshaw bearing registration number JK05E/2468 hit a poplar tree near Jeel Bridge Singpora Mirgund resulting in injuries to its driver. The injured was shifted to JVC Hospital for treatment where he succumbed to his injuries.

The Police further said that a shop was damaged in a fire incident in Kupwara last evening.

Fire broke out in the shop belonging to Ghulam Mohi-u-din Lone son of Mohammad Sadique Lone resident of Doniwar, Kupwara resulting in complete damage to the shop. Fire tenders with the help of police and locals bought fire under control.
