SRINAGAR: The Lal Chowk Post Office in Srinagar will remain open until 9 pm, instead of its existing closing time of 5 pm, providing customers with four additional hours to book mail and parcels, an official spokesperson said.
Adam Mohiuddin, IPoS, Senior Superintendent of Post Offices, said the extended working hours were aimed at making postal services more accessible and convenient, particularly for people unable to visit the post office during regular business hours.
He said the revised timings would benefit shopkeepers and business establishments in Lal Chowk, one of Srinagar’s busiest commercial centres, by allowing them to book mail and parcels after completing their daily business activities.
Tourists visiting the city would also have additional time to access postal services, according to the statement.
The move is intended to improve customer convenience and extend access to essential postal facilities to a wider section of the public in the Lal Chowk area.
“Extension of working hours is intended to make postal services more accessible and convenient for people, particularly those unable to visit the post office during regular working hours,” Mohiuddin said.
