Mughal Road was again closed for vehicular movement on Wednesday after heavy rains triggered landslide hit the stretch at Shikargah in Poonch.

The 84-kilometre road was opened on May 3 after having remained closed for five months.

“Vehicles will be allowed to ply only after landslide debris are cleared along the road,” the traffic authorities said.

The Mughal Road connects Bafliaz town of Poonch district in Jammu region to Shopian town in the Kashmir valley.

The new dispensation is mulling to construct Mughal Road an all-weather and has already requested New Delhi to declare it an alternate highway.
