The Srinagar-Jammu highway, the only surface link connecting Kashmir Valley with rest of the world, was closed due to landslides on Thursday.

Reports said that the traffic on the way towards Jammu from Srinagar was stopped by authorities on Thursday morning following landslides at Iron Stand Digdol in Ramban.

They said around 1500 heavy motor vehicles and 300 light motor vehicles are stranded on the highway.

An official said that Jammu-Srinagar highway blocked due massive landslide occurred at Digdol Ramban it may take a whole day and maybe night to clear the road and restore the traffic.

When last reports came in road clearance operation was underway.
