Irshad Kar, a political leader and social activist from Sopore Monday joined PDP at Fairview residence of the party president Mehbooba Mufti.

Irshad is son of late Ghulam Rasool Kar veteran congress leader who was himself “appreciative of the struggle, political thinking and administrative acumen of Mufti Mohammad Sayeed”.

“He (late Kar) had once shared PDP stage with Mufti Mohammad Sayeed at a convention of Sarpanches in Srinagar as a token of acknowledgment for his struggle and ideology,” the PDP spokesperson said. “Irshad has followed footsteps of his father to formally join PDP and be part of the struggle.”

Admitting Kar to party fold Mehbooba Mufti said that a dynamic political activists like him should strengthen political institutions of consequence. She said potential of such activists can rightly be channelized in an adequate manner for public good. “However this is possible only in a conducive atmosphere for change which PDP is striving for,” the spokesperson said.

Two party general secretaries Nizamudin Bhat and Rafi Ahmad Mir, Chief Coordinator and president for Baramulla Raja Ajaz, another PDP leader from Sopore Nazir Ahmad Naikoo and dozens of hardcore supporters of Irshad Kar were present  on the occasion.

Kar said that it was his desire to use his family influence and personal potential for positive change in Sopore and beyond. “PDP provides me an effective and viable platform to render such services,” he said.

He said that leadership of Mufti Sayeed and his political ideology is a combine that inspires upcoming political activists to change fate of the state from bad to better. “I was craving for an opportunity to work under the banner of PDP since long as it is this party which has a road map and a committed cadre to shape the state’s future,” the spokesperson said.

He offered his services and support to the people and the party pledging that he will work overtime to accomplish PDP agenda and his personal dreams as humble political worker.
