Late-Night Earthquake Jolts Ramban District

   

SRINAGAR: A minor earthquake measuring 2.4 on the Richter scale struck the Ramban area of Jammu and Kashmir late Monday night, causing brief tremors in surrounding regions.

According to data from the National Center for Seismology (NCS), the quake occurred at 11:46 PM on March 23, 2026, at a depth of 10 kilometers. The epicenter was located at latitude 33.433°N and longitude 75.18°E.

There were no immediate reports of damage or casualties following the tremor.

Weather conditions at the epicenter were reported as broken clouds, with a temperature of 3.7°C, humidity at 82 percent, and light winds blowing at 2 meters per second from the south-southeast.

Authorities are monitoring the situation, though the low magnitude suggests minimal impact. (KNC)
