An assistant sub inspector (ASI) of Jammu and Kashmir Traffic Police was allegedly beaten up by a lawmaker’s nephew near Regal Chowk in Srinagar on Tuesday afternoon.

The incident took place at around 12 pm when the victim traffic cop identified as Abdul Rehman was issuing challan to a car owner, “I was challaning a car owner (JK04 A 4058) at Regal Chowk, where I am posted. There was another car (JK01 R 7777) behind the erring car from which some policemen and a civilian, Shafeeq Qureshi emerged and started beating me on my head with a baton,” Rehman who is posted with Srinagar traffic police said.

He told Kashmir Life that he had filed an application with Kothi Bagh police station in the city, “But the superintendent of police (city) told me that he will handle the case himself.” “An FIR of manhandling a public servant has been lodged with Kothi Bagh police station,” said Haseeb Ur Rehman, SP Traffic (City).

  1. Fake claim by the traffic police officers who were denied bribe by the person and later the policeman in picture attacked the individual when he tried to take a video of the abusive policeman.
