A criminal complaint was filed before Sub-Judge Chadoora against Station House Officer, Assistant Sub-Inspector and police escort for allegedly manhandling two lawyers in the premises of Chadoora court in Central Kashmir’s Budgam district.

The lawyers’ community Thursday staged a protest here alleging that Station House Officer Chadoora, his escort and an Assistant Sub-Inspector manhandled Advocate Adil Hamid and Advocate Umar Mehraj in Court premises on Thursday morning.

The protesting lawyers while demanding stern action against the cops told CNS that they filed a criminal complaint against them in the court of Sub-Judge Chadoora and the case has been listed for hearing on Friday.

“I was inside the court and was supposed to park my private vehicle (JK04B-7853) when Station House Officer Chadoora, his escort and an ASI emerged from my back, directing me to move fast. I was unable to do so as there was already a vehicle ahead of me. The cops didn’t listen to me and dragged me out. They slapped and abused me and caused damage to my vehicle,” Advocate Adil Hamid said adding that when Advocate Umar Mehraj tried to intervene, he was also assaulted by the cops.

Chadoora Bar Association president Abdul Rashid Hanjoora who was leading the protest said that they will boycott the court proceedings from Friday if action is not initiated against the ‘erring’ cops.

Despite repeated attempts, Station House Officer Chadoora could not be contacted for comments.
