Lawyers protest against proposed abrogation of Article 35-A

Srinagar

Dozens of lawyers on Friday in Srinagar held a protest rally against the attempts to scrap Article 35-A of Indian constitution that provides special privileges to the citizens of Jammu and Kashmir.

The lawyers held a protest outside District Court Complex Mominabad Batamaloo to register their protest.

The protesters were carrying placards and banners with messages like, ‘Save Article 35-A, Save Your Identity.’

Members of Bar Associations in Islamabad and Kupwara Friday also staged protests against the ‘attempts’ to abrogate Article 35-A.

The lawyer’s body in Islamabad, led by its president Fayaz Saudagar, marched towards Lal Chowk from District Court complex to register their protest.

The lawyer’s body in Kupwara also held the same kind of protest against what they called conspiracies against the special status of Kashmir.

Joint Resistance Leadership had asked lawyers to peacefully protest against scrapping of the article.
