SRINAGAR: Kashmir’s one of the leading pulmonologists, who had tested positive for novel coronavirus on June 1, tested negative for the virus on Monday.

Official sources said that the leading pulmonologist who was earlier tested positive has recovered and has tested negative now.

Leading from the front as HOD, Government Chest Diseases (CD) Hospital, Srinagar, doctor, who is in his early forties was among the frontline health officials treating the patients and managing the crisis.

Moments after he had tested positive, there were few reports alleging that the doctor had doctored his reports. Saddened by the development, he expressed anguish and rebutted the reports, “But (I) am saddened by some reporting my report has been feigned to avoid duties … I will be the last person to do that … I”m in quarantine and working from here … available for all possible deliverable services,” he had said.

He had also requested the administration to conduct testing of all frontline workers. “Request to the administration for preparing a scientific SOP for duties and testing of all frontline workers to safeguard all.”

As of now, J&K has reported 5041 positive cases, out of which 2593 are Active Positive, 2389 have recovered and 61 have died; 07 in Jammu division and 54 in Kashmir division.
