SRINAGAR: The suspension order of Kashmiri lecturer, Zahoor Ahmad Bhat, who was suspended for appearing before the Supreme Court on August 23, has been revoked by the School Education Department.

Earlier, Zahoor Ahmad Bhat appeared before Subah Mehta, Joint Director, of School Education, Jammu, as part of an inquiry committee constituted by the Lieutenant Governor’s (L-G) administration, and provided the committee with his leave application, station permission, and other relevant documents

Pertinently, the School Education Department had on Friday placed Bhat under suspension for appearing before the supreme court to argue against abrogation of 370. “The School Education Department on Friday placed Zahoor Ahmad Bhat, senior lecturer, of political science under suspension with immediate effect for violation of provisions of Jammu & Kashmir Civil Service Regulations, Jammu & Kashmir Government Employees Conduct Rules, J&K Leave Rules.”

Meanwhile, Supreme Court had on August 28 asked the Attorney General of India to look into the suspension of the senior political science lecturer at a government school in Srinagar, after Senior Advocate Kapil Sibal raised the issue  before a five-judge Constitution bench led by Chief Justice of India D Y Chandrachud.
