Leh police solved a rape and murder case of a lady who was missing since November, 2014 and whose body was found from water canal on February 9, 2015 . The main accused Siraj-u-Din resident of Bihar has been arrested.

Police recovered the body of a missing lady name withheld on February 9, 2015  from a water canal at Thiksay. The said lady was missing since November last year. Senior police officers rushed to the spot and the body was retrieved from the canal. A case FIR number 139/2014 under section 366-A RPC already stood registered in Police Station Leh. Services of army tracker dog were called on spot and the body was sent for post mortem. A SIT headed by Addl. SP Leh Shri T.Gyalpo assisted by Inspector SW Namgyal, SI Aman-ul-lah Khan and SI Stanzin Jigmet of Police Station Leh started the investigation.

After postmortem the body was handed over to her family members for last rites. During the investigation the police zeroed in on a suspect Siraj-u-Din resident of Sapaol, Bihar. The said person was putting up with the family of the victim and was a Molvi in the area.He was brought to police station for questioning. During questioning the suspect confessed his involvement in rape and murder of the deceased. He has been put behind bars. Police has launched manhunt to nab other culprits.
