SRINAGAR: In view of the intensifying cold wave and rapidly falling temperatures across the region, the Chief Education Officer (CEO) Leh has ordered a phased closure of schools for winter vacations.
According to the directive issued by CEO Del Argmo, as per the request of the Deputy Commissioner/CEO LAHDC Leh, all government and private schools in the Nyoma and Durbuk zones up to Class 8 will remain closed from December 8, 2025.
The order further states that all schools across Leh district will begin winter vacation from December 15, 2025, citing severe cold conditions that are disrupting normal academic activities.
The administration said the decision was taken in view of freezing temperatures and harsh climatic conditions prevailing across the district.
