Quoting Regional Wildlife Warden Kashmir region, Rashid Yahya Naqash the news agency KNO reported that the teams have already been deputed for the last three days and that all measures are in place to capture the animal.

“We have initiated the door-to-door campaign in the area on the advisory, cages, and darts while other needed measures are in place,” he said, adding, “We are monitoring it closely as the animal is been spotted a week ago.”

Urging people to follow the advisory, the Regional Wildlife Warden Kashmir said that people should follow the advisory issued by the department.

It is pertinent to mention that it is not the first time that a leopard was spotted in Srinagar. The wild animal has been spotted many times in the district.

The wildlife authorities said the leopards have become urbanised and are learning to live with human landscapes as they are getting enough cover of food in the shape of dogs.

The presence of leopards has triggered a scare in the Rawalpora-Wanbal belt. A resident has actually clicked the wild animal in his backyard while taking a dog away. Another citizen journalist said these are three leopards in the belt and are roaming in many localities.
