Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) chief Mehmood Shah has strongly condemned the summoning and harassment of family members of “freedom fighters” to police stations and demanded the release of innocents arrested in Bijbehara.

LeT spokesperson Dr Abdullah Ghaznavi in a statement issued to GNS quoted Mehmood Shah as saying that “India is committing worst atrocities under the disguise of the ceasefire. The youth are being mercilessly killed in fake encounters.”

Shah said the state government is following the footsteps of Maharaja Hari Singh. “The honour and property of people is being damaged. Mehbooba Mufti wins applause from India for the price of selling the honour of people,” he said.

Lashkar chief warned the DSP Rashid and other police personnel to desist from their vicious acts. “We respect the families of police personnel the same way we respect those of mujahideen and public. Revenge is not an improbable and impossible act for us. If the state police don’t desist from their inhumane acts, then they will have to face the worst of consequences,” he said.

Mehmood Shah requested the international human rights organizations to take notice of the “severe atrocities” by Indian forces in Jammu Kashmir and play their due role in providing the just and fundamental rights to the people of the State. (GNS)
